The event will starts on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at 11:00 PM and runs to Sunday, July 12, 2026 at 2:00 AM.
This will be our second attempt at the 'Night Sky Photography Outing' as our first attempt in May had to be cancelled because the sky was cloudy. So here we go again...
Actually it will start at 11:00pm on Saturday, and end about 2am Sunday morning.
Although It will be 'pretty dark' by 10pm, the core of the Milky Way doesn't get to its peak until around 2am. Optimal milky way conditions would be between 1am and 3am.
Then we walk across the field south of the farm house. We get to a really nice spot due south of the farm house, It is about 1/8th of a mile on grass - and we will be there with other creatures. This spot is great for capturing star-trails right above the farm house.
Star-trails take a while. Those with a lot of patience should show up earlier to allow for more time for the trails to get long.
At about 1 am Sunday morning we will pack up and go back to the cars. We take a left from Camp Linden Rd on to Wawaset Rd and continue up Wawaset Rd for about 0.5 miles. There is a small spot with room for a couple of cars. Excess cars can park along the road.
From there we walk up the hill to the west of the road (on the left side relative to where we came from). This walk is also on grass, and we go up a steep, big hill, on un-even terrain, loaded up with camera, tripod, headlamp....
Once we reach the top we will have the other side of the farm-house due south, - right under the Milky Way! There we will take our Milky Way pictures, and then head home to get some rest :~)
Svenne Juul will be leading this outing. The instructions shared during the pre-meeting on May 14 still apply, but in case you were unable to attend then please send him an email at svenne.juul@gmail.com requesting assistance.
If it looks like cloud-cover will be a problem on the scheduled night, then we may reschedule the outing to be one night earlier, or one night later. To be sure you get schedule updates please let Svenne Juul know you plan to attend.
