Outing - Washington DC under the full moon (4:30 PM EDT)
How about a (hopefully) beautiful late afternoon and evening around the National Mall in Washington DC. The sun will set behind the Lincoln Memorial at about 6.40pm , - which also is about the time when the full moon rises from behind the Capitol!! Is that a cool opportunity or what? Going to Washington DC for a late afternoon / early evening outing is a long way. We will therefore start the outing right outside Union Station in  Washington DC at 4.30pm.  We will meet at Columbus Circle which is right across from the station. Driving is always an option, but Amtrak offers some alternatives: Amtrak  147 Northeast Regional leaves Wilmington DE at 2.39pm and arrives into Union Station at 4.12 pm Amtrak  124 Northeast Regional leaves Union Station  at 8.20pm and arrives back at Wilmington DE at 9.58pm - And we will have a car pool between Panera in Exton and the Wilmington, DE train station matching the above Amtrak schedule.
Critique Group (2:00 PM EDT)
Intended for print photographers,  you are invited to join a small group of club members who gather in an informal setting either in-person or via Zoom, or sometimes both, depending on member's preference to show a few of their photographs and receive constructive feedback from fellow photographers. The meeting takes place once a month in small groups so photographers can share their images and discuss their vision. This is a gentle and fun atmosphere that promotes friendship and learning for members only. Let Jim Samanen know if you would like to attend and he will coordinate groups and sign-in instructions. You can email Jim at jamessamanen@gmail.com This is a members-only event.
Member's Forum - Another Conversation About Printing - Lead by Jim Samanen (6:30 PM EDT)
In the Member's Forum on November 13, 2019, Dick Greenwood and Jim Samanen led a discussion about printing which was well-received. Then the Covid lockdown occurred and there were no in-person meetings or competitions for many months. In the process the Print Competitions and in-person Print Critiques went dormant. In the last months of this past club year when Print Competitions were reinstated there were very few entrants to the Print Competition. So, Jim would like to encourage former entrants to get back into the fray and encourage other club members to at least consider printing, if not enter the Print Competitions. A brief introduction will define the meeting as being a conversation about the why’s of printing. For simplicity, printing means obtaining prints of your photographic images. Whether you do it commercially or with your own printer is of secondary importance. Printing is valued as an approach to photography.
Speaker: Rich Lewis-Finding Your Creative Voice (7:30 PM EDT)
Learn how one simple word and 4 questions can change your photography. Every photographer needs to find their unique creative voice. Learn the most powerful word in photography and how asking 4 basic questions will help you craft your own unique photographic style.  https://richardlewisphotography.com/ This event will be presented at Westminster Presbyterian Church as well via remote transmission. We encourage you to attend in person. A link will be provided the week of the presentation for viewing at home.
Workshop: "I Don't See Color" A Black and White Photography Workshop (9:30 AM EDT)
Henry David Thoreau, the American naturalist said,        “The question is not what you look at but what you see.” We see colors, shapes, tonal values and texture everyday. They can affect us differently even if we are looking at the same thing. This is an interactive collaborative workshop that will challenge how you see the world. We will meet at the old West Chester Courthouse at 9:30am. Attendees can photograph any subject with B&W in mind. At 10:30, we will gather at the West Chester Library and share  photos. As a group we will discuss the photographer's vision and explore what we see in the image           Each photographer will share with the class: What inspired them to take this photo?  Why did they select this image to share? How does this image make you feel?  The workshop will be conducted by our own Workshop Committee member Wayne Dixon. It will begin at 9:30am and will end at 12:00 noon. The workshop is for club members only and is free of charge. There is street parking available near the library, or you can park in the garage across from the Justice Center on Market St. Click the More Information below for a flyer of the event. This event will be limited to 20 members. To reserve you spot email Jim Wilson at PaddleJim48@gmail.com. THE WORKSHOP IS FULL.  WAITLIST ONLY.
Outing - Jim Thorpe, PA (10:00 AM EDT)
Jim Thorpe is one of the most scenic and picturesque towns in the southern Pocono mountains. With a little luck we will see it in beautiful fall colors. Enjoy the quaint town and take a ride on the  Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway, where century-old coaches powered by diesel engines take passengers into Lehigh Gorge State Park. While Jim Thorpe is open all day long, parking tends to be hard to come by in busy-season (which is when we are going), but until around 10am it should be possible to get parking in the large lot close to the train station. We will meet at the train station at 10am. There will be a car-pool leaving from Panera in Exton at 8.20am.  Please send email to svenne.juul@gmail.com if you would like to ride - or drive - with the pool.
