Outing - Geese migration at Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area

Photo

The event was held on Thursday, February 29, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

Every winter up to about 100,000 geese gather at the Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area in Lancaster county. There they wait for the weather to turn warm enough to fly further north. While they wait, they feast on the nourishment deliberately left on the area fields.

Every evening around sunset they all (really ALL) descend on the Middle Creek Reservoir, and every morning they all take off from the reservoir for another day of feasting.

While the same story plays out every year, the dates vary quite a bit. The date for this event is very likely to change. The final event date is likely to be between mid February and mid March.

There will be a carpool leaving from Panera in Exton at 3pm. If you would like to ride please send email to svenne.juul@gmail.com expressing your interest.
